North End Thoughts

It appears that more than a few active political sorts are looking closely at running for county offices as they may arise. The north end rumblings remain loud as candidates from the middle of the county take coveted county offices. This displeasure could be displayed by a mounted serious challenge for the top three countywide elected spots. North end committeemen are convinced that they have been ignored and expect the usual parade of candidates professing interest in them and their party as it gets closer to election time. I don't know if they will be convinced that those in power really have the party and their interests at heart as they attempt to move up the political ladder.

Summertime Speculation

Well here it is three months from the primary. Local politicians are still circling awaiting an opportunity to run for the 14th Congressional seat should Speaker Haster retire after the general election. Names that have been mentioned are Senator Chris Lauzen, Representative Tom Cross, Representative Tim Schmitz and even Jim Oberweis. Others may enter the race after considering the strength and numbers involved in the race. Since no one appears to have heard otherwise, the Speaker will remain our Congressman and all this is simply speculation.
